We're so proud and excited to announce our new platform here on Black Lotus. Our objective is to not only bring together our lovely yoga community, but also strengthen and support each other through our very own stories - what brought us on our mats, highlights, to a variety of educational articles written by our very own yogis and teachers.
Since we're on the topic of stories, I thought I would christen the start of this wonderful community with my story.
Hi, my name is May. For all you Black Lotus regulars, you may see me floating around the studio at least 5 times a week. I am a newly qualified Registered Yoga Teacher, but also through my background in Journalism and Digital Marketing (my day job), Kathy and I thought it would be an amazing idea to put this blog together. I will be working with Kathy on this platform, to try and bring as many of us together together and educate one another along the process.
My yoga story began when I moved to the United Kingdom. Being miles away from home, I found yoga through university. I loved how it made me feel and I don't think I've ever stopped since. Somewhere along the line, I started having back pains, after countless tests, needle pricks, hospital visits, the doctors ruled it down to a Vitamin D deficiency, a mild scoliosis (sideways curvature of the spine) and a bad posture (guilty for this one). Yoga found me at the time where I needed the most and I've never had issues with my back since.
Since I found Black Lotus a year and a half ago, I signed up for a Gold Membership right after my Intro Offer, and I've been made to feel part of the family since, and I'm so glad I'm part of this little yoga community. I even became a yoga instructor along the way... This journey has been amazing... and it's only just begun.
If you have an interesting story on how yoga found you or how you've found yoga, life after yoga, we would love to hear it.
We hope you enjoy this blog as much are we are enjoying putting it together. Let's build a supportive, integrated and educational community together and watch this space grow.
